JOST SAUER   B.H.Sc (ACU), Dip. OM

Born in 1958 in Germany (Scorpio Dog), Jost Sauer is an acupuncturist, columnist, media commentator and author of three groundbreaking books: Higher and Higher, Drug Repair That Works and The Perfect Day Plan (published by Allen and Unwin). Apart from his own busy practice, Jost spends much of his year travelling, teaching and giving talks to the general public and health professionals. By examining ancient understandings about good health, then applying these insights to 21st century issues, Jost has become one of the leading figures in innovative approaches to health and wellbeing.

Jost offers powerful, practical and effective new ways to approach the challenges of contemporary life. Addiction is an area of specialisation. Happily drug-free through his own holistic program and working as a drug and alcohol counsellor for almost thirty years, Jost is a credible authority in the field. His first two books Higher and Higher and Drug Repair That Works offered radical new ways to interpret drug experiences and an alternative model to working with drug addiction (in particular psychosis). Through his related workshops, DVDs and by training therapists in his unique PDH program, he has enabled thousands of people to understand their own drug experiences and to use them as an evolutionary tool. His revolutionary ideas about drug-use have led to his reputation as one of the most progressive thinkers in alternative medicine.

After many years specialising in this area Jost found himself treating more and more people who had not used recreational drugs but were dependant on prescription medications and often had symptoms as serious as those of recreational drug-users. If they stopped the medications all their underlying initial problems simply reappeared. Jost had to look at the cause of the underlying problem not the side effects of the medication, and the cause of most problems is the fact that people don’t know how to live anymore. This led to his new area of specialisation – the art of living. Jost’s new book, The Perfect Day Plan, looks at the 24 hour chi cycle and an art of living for the 21st century.

Jost has operated several health care centres and also worked privately as a therapist in the USA, Malaysia and Australia, successfully treating thousands of clients. Jost has a high public profile as workshop presenter and guest speaker at festivals, conferences and educational institutions, but he also participates regularly in talkback radio shows, magazines and newspapers as well as being a regular contributor to Living Now magazine.

Apart from living the Chi-cycle and following a daily “Switch-ON” routine at Lung-Colon time involving meditation, Chi-gung, Martial Arts (Yang Style Tai-chi) and weights / endurance training Jost is absolutely mad about Electronic Music. He is the proud owner of a list of synthesizers such as the rhapsodizing Roland V-Synth GT, the mind-bending Access Virus Ti and the soul-warming Roland Fantom G8 and he makes sure to spend valuable time with his babies during Pericardium time. To date Jost has recorded over two-hundred hours of experiential ’soul-travel’ Trance which he used in his acupuncture treatments to induce altered states in both client and practitioner. These days he doesn’t go anywhere without his gear in an eternal quest to define the ultimate melody.

Jost is extremely happily married to his soul-mate Kirsten who he met in 1994 and who is his “Sister-in-arms” to fight the battle for the liberation of the soul and to bring Heaven onto Earth. Both are in a perfect Yin+Yang inter-relationship; accordingly they tackle the challenges of writing books, dealing with publishers and following the “untreated path”. Whereas Jost follows the Chi-path via Martial Arts, Kirsten follows the Yogi-path of Astanga Yoga. There is no such thing as a better way or a better technique; there is only commitment, dedication and perseverance and both are strong believers that in order to experience peace and harmony you have to process yourself first before you engage with others. True freedom comes from regulating emotions - the natural outcome of daily practice and of living a life as in accord with the Chi-cycle.

Apart from all that Jost, loves hot fast cars, in particular big, fat macho muscle cars… and obviously he had his share of super-hot toys over the past 38 years. However, we aren’t living in normal times anymore so a fossil-fueled vehicle might be the thing of the past (the old world). Accordingly Jost surrendered his motoring passion to the undeniable fact of ever-diminishing fuel-resources and succumbed to the need for alternatives. At this stage he is walking, but deep down in his heart he is waiting for the arrival of the first commercially available UFO with an acceleration rate of 0 - 100 km/h in 0.3 sec and a G-force delivery of 6.785 G.

Chinese medical thinking states that we can’t change our past but we can change our future. This is reflected in the phenomenon of pre-natal Jing and post-natal Jing, which, in Western terms, means that humans are only partially bound by genetic coding (post-natal Jing) and that we have the choice of breaking free from social and genetic conditioning to create a powerful new ‘programming’ (post-natal Jing). Chinese medicine states that we are designed to become independent and self-realized beings. But a journey of thousand miles always begins with the first step and that’s what the Perfect Day Plan is all about…
